Welcome <  Modules < Library Module < Songs

Songs

The Songs tab in the, Library window, displays a list of the Music Assets stored in the Zetta Content Stores or assets added that are external to Zetta. Songs in the Zetta are denoted by a music note throughout the system. Songs can be imported into Zetta using Auto Load, Media Import and Drag & Drop from the desktop, using the CD Ripper or by Adding a new Song Asset using the Add new media button from the Library Toolbar. Songs can be scheduled in the Log using GSelector Integration or Flat File Load. Songs can have a Metadata Scope of Global, Station or Cuts. The default metadata scope for songs is Station. This is also the metadata scope used when Zetta is integrated with GSelector.  Use the Themes & Appearances configuration window to change the color of the song  icon.

Songs Metadata Card

The Songs Metadata Card is opened when double clicking on an audio asset in the Songs tab of the Library Module. A Song asset can also be access from other modules in Zetta by double-clicking or using the right-click menu and selecting edit from the resulting menu. The Song Metadata Card holds information about the audio asset and an Audio Marks Editor, which can be used to make changes to the audio. The Song Metadata Card can be arranged using tabs or the tabs can be docked in the window to arrange the window as desired, see the Docking and Undocking section of this guide for more details on docking. The following illustration shows a Song that is integrated with GSelector having a Metadata scope of station. This means the song card will have a station specific tab that holds setting specifically for the station selected and a GSelector® tab for GSelector specific information.

The file found in this field is a content managed resource in Zetta. The Play External references an external file outside of Zetta using the File Path field. This option is typically used for Time Announcements. The Live Event option enables the Live/Confirm Live Event check-box and is used to mark the song as Live.  When Play External or Live Event is selected the Marks tab is hidden and the Duration field changes to Target Duration. A Live Event can also be treated as Empty VT Slots/Voice Tracks if the 'Treat Live Events as Empty VT Slots/Voice Tracks' option, in the Playback tab of the Station Configuration window, is enabled. The Play Incoming File option is used with background recordings to allow the user to play and add marks to the asset while the audio is recording. When Play Incoming is selected as the Playback Method the Incoming File field is displayed.

Filename – The Filename field displays the filename of the song audio. Drag and drop a library asset to this field to insert the audio into the metadata card. Click the CD Ripper button to rip one or multiple tracks to a file to attach to the song. Click the Browse Media File button to view or change the location of the file. Click the Delete button to remove the file associated with the asset. This field is removed when the Live option is selected. Right-clicking the Media Filename field will display a menu allowing the user to Copy the Filename or Copy the Full Path of the file. See Supported Audio Formats for details on audio formats supported by Zetta.

File Path - The File Path is available when Play External is selected as the Playback Method. This field allows for variables to be used for the file name that is to be played. For Example, when using this option for Time Announcements the field may read: \\10.10.10.165\Time\TM@H@m.wav

Segue seconds before end of audio - This option is available when selecting the Playback Method Play External. It is used to set the length of the Segue for the external file that will be played.

Live/Confirm Live Event - The Live/Confirm Live Event option is available when the Live Event option is selected at the Playback Method. This will set the Script icon to red in the On-Air, Logs and Notes modules. The user can right-click the script icon in the On-Air or Logs window to select Mark as Read or click the Mark as Read button in the Notes Module to mark the asset as played.

Incoming File - The Incoming File field is displayed when Play Incoming File is selected as the Playback Method. When the audio starts recording this field will show the location of the audio file.

File Length - The File Length is the total time of the file from beginning to end ignoring any marks. This field is shown when the Playback Method is 'Play File' or 'Play Incoming File'.

Duration – The Duration field will display the amount of time the asset will take to play from Trim In to Trim Out. The duration value will be underlined if there is a Time Stretch Play Rate specified.

Target Duration - When the Play External, Live Event or Play Incoming File options are selected as the Playback Method the Duration field is replaced with a Target Duration field. Enter the estimated amount of time it will take for External file to play or for the user to do the Live Event. For Play Incoming File this is the target length of the recorded audio file.

Album Title – The Album field is used to assign an Album attribute to the song. This field has an Auto Complete feature where the user can start typing the name of the album and Zetta will match what is typed with the existing entries. With a right-click of the mouse, editing options are available. When the field is empty the right-click menu displays the Manage Names option. This will open the Manage Albums window. When an album exists in this field, right-clicking the name will display additional editing options. To simply edit the name displayed, double-click it to open the edit window for that album. The Edit Album window will display the Name to edit and the number of assets that have the selected album assigned. Editing the Album name will change the album name for all the assets that have it assigned. To add a new album to the Zetta database simply type the name in the Album Title field and save the metadata card or use the Manage Albums window.

Important Note!

When Zetta is integrated with GSelector changes to Artist or Album will not be sent to GSelector. The songs will need to be synced with GSelector for this change to occur.

Publisher - The Publisher field is used to assign a Publishing agent or company to the asset.

Label - The Label field can be used to assign the record label to the asset.

Opening - The Opening field is used for an optional free form text description of the start of the Song.

Ending - The Ending field is used for an optional free form text description of the end of the Song.

External ID - The External ID displays an external alpha-numeric identification used for the asset by an external source. An External ID is a unique string, the user will be prompt when a duplicate External ID is entered. The External ID in Zetta matches up to the Media ID in GSelector when integration is enabled. This ID is also used when working with a third party music scheduling system and for referencing when loading an asset into a log via a Flat File load. If this field contains a predefined value then Zetta is automatically generating a unique ID. See the External ID topic in the System Configuration section for more information.

ISRC - The International Standard Recording Code (ISRC), defined by ISO 3901, is an international standard code for uniquely identifying sound recordings and music video recordings. An ISRC code identifies a particular recording, not the song itself. Therefore, different recordings, edits, and remixes of the same song will each have their own ISRC code.

Rotations - The Rotations field is used to assign the asset to a Rotation or multiple rotations. This field has an Auto Complete feature where the user can start typing the name of the Rotation and Zetta will match what is typed with existing Rotations. Rotations can also be created using this field, by simple typing in the name of the desired Rotation then saving the asset. Right-click the assigned Rotation name to Remove or Edit the Rotation. Optionally, double-click the name of the assigned Rotation to open the Rotation metadata card.

Kill Date – The Kill Date is the date to stop scheduling the audio and automatically delete it from the Media Library.

Chain Override - The Chain Override option is used to set the chain type for the asset when it is inserted into a Log, Clock, Show, Mini Log or Stack. The default setting is (Use Default). This (Use Default) setting is the chain type configured for the logged in user that is set in the Default Chain section of the Preferences window. If the asset is inserted from a location where the chain type was previously set the chain type will not be overridden.

For Example: If the asset is insert into a Log from another Log where the chain type had already been set then the chain type will not be overridden.

Date created - The Date created field is read only and shows when the asset was created.

Last modified - The Last modified field is read only and shows the date the asset was last changed.

Asset Attributes - The Asset Attributes in the Extra tab are global attributes defined in the Custom Fields tab of the System Configuration window.

Important Note!

The Custom Fields tab of the System Configuration window is where the Artist_ID and Product_ID attributes can be added. Contact RCS Support for assistance with these Attributes.

Station Specific, Cut Specific or Global tab

The Metadata Scope of Songs in Zetta will determine the tab that are visible in the metadata card. If the Metadata Scope is set to Global for songs, a Global tab will be displayed in the songs metadata card. If the Metadata Scope is set to Station for songs or if the system is integrated with GSelector, a Station tab and a Station Specific tab will be displayed in a songs metadata card. If the Metadata Scope is set to Cuts for songs, a Cuts tab and a Cut Specific tab will be displayed in the songs metadata card. See the Asset Types tab in the System Configuration window for additional information on setting the Metadata Scope of an asset type.

Station Specific Tab

The following tab shows what is available for a song when a station is selected. If the station is set to default attributes are hidden.

The Station Specific tab is used to specify settings for the song for a specific station. The colored dot next to each field signifies the setting is a Station Specific value. The dark dot signifies the setting is an Asset Default value. By clicking the purple dot the user can Reset the field to the default status or set the setting for the field as Default. Use the mouse to hover over the dot to see if the setting is a Default or Overridden setting.

Approval - The 'Approval' option is available when the Audio needs approval before airing flag is checked in the Station Configuration Playback tab and the user Account has the privilege to set the Approval flag.

Active – When a song is imported into Zetta it is inactive, use this check box to activate the song for the desired stations. Selecting the active check box while the selected station is Default will make the asset active for all stations.

Last Play - The 'Last Play' field displays the last date and time the asset played.

Category – The 'Category' field is used to assign a Category to the Song. When integrated with GSelector® the categories for Songs and Links are sent from GSelector to Zetta. A Category assignment can be changed, for an asset from within the metadata card in Zetta, however adding, editing or deleting a Category must be done in GSelector. When Zetta is integrated with GSelector the Short and Long name for the category are shown.

Tag - The 'Tag' field is used to assign a Tagged group of assets to use with Splits in Zetta. This field has an Auto Complete feature where the user can start typing the name of the tag and Zetta will match what is typed with the existing entries. To create a Tag see the Tags topic. Right-click the assigned Tag name to Remove or Edit the Tag. Optionally, double-click the name of the assigned Tag to open the Tag metadata card.

Split Behavior - The 'Split Behavior' option is available when the Zetta Splits feature is enabled in the System Configuration | General tab. Use the Split Behavior drop-down to select the desired behavior of the Master Splits station when the Asset is scheduled in the Log.

Start Date/Hour – Use the 'Start Date/Hour' fields to specify when this song will be available for play.

End Date/Hour – Use the 'End Date/Hour' fields to specify when this song will no longer be available for play.

Hour Restriction - The 'Hour Restriction' drop-down is used to assign and exiting Hour Restriction to the song. Use the Launch Hour Restriction Manager button to the right of the Hour Restriction drop-down to open the Hour Restriction Manager window.

Attributes

Use the Themes & Appearances configuration window to setup Appearances and Row Highlighting for these attributes. When Zetta is integrated with GSelector the Attributes for songs and links cannot be managed or edited from Zetta, however existing attributes can be assigned and removed. See the GSelector help guide to manage or edit these attributes.

If Zetta is not integrated with GSelector a right-click of the mouse in any attribute field will display editing options. When the field is empty the right-click menu displays only the Manage Names option. This will open the Manage window for the selected attribute. When an attribute exists in the field, right-clicking the name will display a menu to Remove, Edit or Manage Names. To simply edit the name displayed, double-click it to open the edit window for that attribute. The Edit window will display the Name to edit and the number of assets that have the selected attribute assigned. Editing the Attribute name will change the attribute name for all the assets that have it assigned. To add a new attribute to the station simply type the name in the attribute field and save the metadata card or use the Manage Names window. These fields have an Auto Complete feature where the user can start typing the name of the Attribute and Zetta will match what is typed with the existing entries.

Mood - This scalar attribute is used to separate or control segues between songs by a mood description defined and applied across the entire library.

Energy - This scalar attribute is used to separate or control segues between songs according to the Energy of a song. An example of a song with different Energy and Mood values could be 'Don't Know Why' by Norah Jones: many programmers see the song as medium energy but low mood.

Tempo - This scalar attribute is used to separate or control segues between Songs according to the Tempo of two adjacent Songs.

Opener - This scalar attribute is used to specify whether a Song can be used as an Opener.

Texture Open\Close - This attribute is used to separate or control segues between songs and/or links according to the Texture of the song or link. The use of Texture is very much down to the programmer: Texture can represent the 'thickness' of the song or link sound - for example, 'Smooth' by Santana has a fairly thick, punchy sound, compared to Kylie Minogue's 'Can't Get you Out of My Head'.

Sound Code - This Attribute is used to separate or control segues between songs according to Sound Code. Examples could be: 'Classic Soul', 'Short Songs', 'Songs over six minutes', and so on.

Custom Fields - Additional attributes with the scope of station can be added in the Custom Fields tab of the System Configuration window.

Hour Restriction Grid - The Hour Restriction Grid at the bottom of the Station Specific tab shows the hours, in red, that are restricted for the selected Hour Restriction.

Cut Specific Tab

The Cut Specific tab is displayed when the asset has a metadata scope of Cuts in the Asset Types tab of the System Configuration.

The Cut Specific tab is used to specify settings for the song cut for a single station or many stations.

Active – When a song is imported into Zetta it is inactive, use this check box to activate the selected cut for the song for the selected stations.

Cut Name - The Cut Name is used to identify the Cut with an alpha-numeric name.

Stations - Select the Stations that can play this cut on the air. Multiple stations can be added using this field.

Station Groups - The Station Groups field allows the user to select a group of stations rather than individually selecting them using the above Stations field. This makes adding stations to a bunch of assets easier because the user can simply add the station to the Station Group.

Important Note!

If All Stations is selected as the Station Group, any new station created will be able to play any active cuts where all stations is assigned as the Station Group. By default new stations are automatically added to the All Station Station Group.

Cut External ID - The Cut External ID displays an external alpha-numeric identification used for the asset by an external source. A Cut External ID is a unique string, the user will be prompt when a duplicate Cut External ID is entered. This ID is also used when working with a third party music scheduling system and for referencing when loading an asset into a log via a Flat File load.

Start Date/Hour – Use the Start Date/hour fields to specify when this song will be available for play.

End Date/Hour – Use the End Date/Hour fields to specify when this song will no longer be available for play.

Attributes - The display attributes are text fields used to Display information about the Cut. Display attributes are primarily used for the Live Metadata feature. Additional attributes with the scope of cut can be added in the Custom Fields tab of the System Configuration window.

Global Tab

The Global tab is displayed when the asset has a metadata scope of Global in the Asset Types tab of the System Configuration.

Active – When a song is imported into Zetta it is inactive, use this check box to activate the selected song for ALL stations.

Tag - The Tag field is used to assign a Tagged group of assets to use with Splits in Zetta. This field has an Auto Complete feature where the user can start typing the name of the tag and Zetta will match what is typed with the existing entries.  To create a Tag see the Tags topic.

Split Behavior - The Split Behavior option is available when the Splits Feature is enabled in the System Configuration | General tab.  Use the Split Behavior drop-down to select the desired behavior of the Master Splits station when the Asset is scheduled in the Log.

Start Date/Hour – Use the Start Date/hour fields to specify when this song will be available for play.

End Date/Hour – Use the End Date/Hour fields to specify when this song will no longer be available for play.

Hour Restriction - The 'Hour Restriction' drop-down is used to assign and exiting Hour Restriction to the song. Use the Launch Hour Restriction Manager button to the right of the Hour Restriction drop-down to open the Hour Restriction Manager window.

Hour Restriction Grid - The Hour Restriction Grid at the bottom of the Global tab shows the hours that a restricted, in red, by the selected Hour Restriction.

Participants Tab

The Participants tab shows a list of names and roles that participated in creating or performing the song: composers, conductors, producers, arrangers, vocalists, writer/lyricist and musicians are all Participants. Participants are defined and assigned to Songs using the participants tab of the metadata card. When GSelector is integrated this field is synced when changed. This list is sorted by Role and then by Name. The Participants list can be reorganized by clicking on the Role or Name column header.

Use the Add Participant button to add a new participant field. Optionally click the drop-down arrow next to the add button to select the Participant Role. A participant role can be set as the default role for all added participants by clicking the drop-down and then right-clicking the desired role from the list.

This will change the add button to show the default participant role . Right-click the name again to remove the role as the default.

Each added participant field has an Auto Complete feature where the user can start typing the name of the Participant and Zetta will match what is typed with the existing entries. With a right-click of the mouse, editing options are available.  When the field is empty the right-click menu displays the Manage Names option. This will open the Manage Participants window.

When a participant exists in this field, right-clicking the name will display additional editing options.

To add a new participant to the Zetta database simply type the name in the participant field and save the metadata card or use the Manage Participants window.

To simply edit the name displayed, double-click it to open the edit window for that participant. The Edit Participant window will display the Name to edit and the number of assets that have the selected Participant assigned. Editing the Participant name will change the category name for all the assets that have it assigned.

Optionally, use the remove button to the right of the participant name to remove the corresponding participant from the list.

GSelector® Tab

The GSelector® tab is displayed when Zetta is integrated with GSelector.

The GSelector® tab is used to hold GSelector catalog information. The following values come from GSelector when the tab is selected; they can only be changed in GSelector at this time:

Version – The Version value can represent the version of the song such as; album, single, live or a radio edit version.

Promoter – The Promoter field can be used to record the promoter of the song.

License – The License field is used for the licensing of the song.

History Tab

The History tab is shown when a station is selected and displays a grid of the date and hour the media asset played or will play and how many times. The History tab can be used to show the artist history or show the asset history by using the right-click menu from anywhere in the history grid. By default the History window shows a 14 day history, to show more use the right-click menu from anywhere in the grid to select Show More. Hover the mouse over the dot or number in the hour to view the time the song or artist will play in the hour. If the asset is assigned an Hour Restriction for the station then the hour restrictions will also show in the Song History. To view the History tab for an asset that has the metadata scope of Cuts, expand the Cut in the Cuts tab to the left, then select the station.

Script Tab

The Scripts tab in the metadata card is used to create Scripts or Live Events for the On-Air personality to read when the asset is aired in the station log. This tab can hold text, hyperlinks and graphic images such as album art.
