Segue Editor®

The Segue Editor allows a user to configure how the tracks will segue during on-air play from the Logs Module. When making changes to audio through the Segue Editor, the changes are made to a specific instance in the Log and not the audio file itself. To use the Editor to adjust the Segue of songs, Links and other audio events in the log, simply click the event and select the Segue button in the Toolbar of the Logs Module. The Segue Editor will open in a contracted view, clicking the Expand View button will open the Segue Editor in the full view seen below. To edit the segue of Spots in a Spot Block, simply expand the Spot Block in the log using the "+", select the first spot in the block then click the Segue button to open the Segue Editor.

When the Segue Editor opens it is zoomed into the first Segue, showing 10 seconds before the segue or end, if no segue is set, for the first event and 10 seconds into the second event, the play position is set to 8 seconds before the segue of the first event. Click anywhere in the Segue Editor window to reposition the play cursor.

Toolbar

The following Segue Editor toolbar options are available for editing the segue of the events scheduled in the log:

Save - The Save button will save the changes to the log.

Refresh - The refresh button will refresh the items in the editor discarding any unsaved changes made.

Voice Tracker®The Voice Tracker button allows the user to switch to Voice Tracker to record a voice track. The user can use this button to toggle back and forth between the Segue Editor and Voice Tracker.

Reposition Mode – The Reposition Mode allows the user to make segue changes as the audio events play.

Simulation Mode – Simulation Mode plays the audio segues, as they are currently set simulating how it will play by the sequencer. The play cursor and audio sections cannot be repositioned in this mode.

Expand View - The expand view button is used to change the view of the Segue Editor to a view that displays more information about each track and the waveforms for each event.

Contract View – The contract view button is used to change the view of the segue editor to a more simplified view to conserve viewing space. The Contracted view will hide the Zoom/Pan bar.

ZCast - ZCast - The ZCast button is used to send Segue Transitions using a ZCast Connection that has the permission to allow sending Segue Transitions.

Warning - A warning is displayed when there are issues with the audio or streams in the Segue Editor. Hover the mouse over the warning icon to view a warning message.

 

Play Controls

Go To Previous Segue – The Go to Previous Segue allows the user to move to the previous event to adjust the segue. When editing the segues of a spot in a spot block, the go to previous and Go to Next buttons will only move to the events within the spot block. Use the log to click the next event outside the spot block to continue editing.

Play – Play will play the audio starting from the play marker using an audition play stream. In addition, play starts the next events at the desired segue start position.

Record – The Record button is not available in the Segue Editor. The Record button is available when switching to Voice Tracker.

Stop – Stop will stop all of the audio and move the play marker back to the starting point.

Go to Next Segue – The Go to Next Segue allows the user to move to the next event to adjust the segue.

Zoom In, Out and Page – The buttons to the right of the play controls can be used to zoom in and out of the graph vertically and horizontally for more precise editing. Use the X button to Zoom out full. Use the Page buttons to page right and left. Clicking and dragging in any blank area where a waveform is not present, will pan the window left or right as the mouse is moved. Optionally, use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out horizontally.

 

Zoom/Pan

Below the Tracks is a Zoom/Pan feature that can be used to pan left or right or zoom in on a segment of audio. This is similar to the Zoom/Pan features in the Voice Tracker. Optionally use the Zoom In, Out and Page buttons to the right of the play controls. Clicking and dragging in any blank area where a waveform is not present, will pan the window left or right as the mouse is moved. Optionally, the mouse wheel can also be used to zoom in and out of the waveform horizontally. To zoom into a specific section of the waveform using the mouse wheel, simply hover the mouse cursor over the desired location in the waveform and use the mouse wheel scroll down to Zoom in. To Zoom in/out at the play cursor press the ALT key while using the mouse wheel. To Pan right and left hold the SHIFT key while moving the mouse wheel forward and backward.

Inserting Audio Markers

Audio markers can easily be inserted using the mouse or Keyboard shortcuts. By right-clicking on the desired audio event within the wave form the Trims, Mix In, Intros, Early Segue, Segue, Hook, Loop, Cue Points, Fade In, Fade Out and Volume points can be easily added to the audio event from the generated menu. Volume points can also be added by double-clicking the line (when the hand cursor appears) to insert a volume point. Optionally, double-click and existing Volume Point to remove it. The first and last volume point can be repositioned by dragging the volume point to the desired position. Double-clicking on the first or last volume point will reset their levels back to 0 dB (100%). This menu can also be used to enable/disable the Auto Fade and Ducking settings defined in the Stations Configuration window. Use the View Options to show/hide markers of the track audio graph. See the Marks Editor topic for more information on these markers.

 

Moving Audio Markers

Once the markers are inserted, they can easily be adjusted by hovering over the desired marker until the positioning hand or arrows appear.

Then click and drag the marker to the desired location. The numeric value of the marker will be displayed in the title bar. This value will adjust as the marker is moved to a new position.

 

Reposition Audio Events

The audio events can easily be repositioned by clicking and dragging the header bar of the audio waveform to the left or right. Note: The first audio event displayed cannot be moved without first clicking the go to previous segue  button. The event title is shown in the header bar in the theme color selected in Themes and Appearances.

 

View Options

The right click menu allows for quick access to the show options for Marks, Cue Points and Virtual Events. The Show Audio Markers, Show Cue Points and Show Virtual Events can be used to show or hide the markers in the audio graph. When the specific option is checked its marks are shown, if it is unchecked its markers are hidden.

 

Adding and Removing Tracks

Tracks can be easily added and removed from the Segue Editor window by right clicking next to a track and choosing the desired action from the menu. 

The minimum number of tracks is two. The maximum number of tracks depends on the viewing real estate available on the screen.

 

Track Chain Type

The Chain Type button to the right of the event title in the header of the track allows the user to select how the event will transition in to the next event with the following options. The color of the Chain Type can be changed using the Chain Icons section in the Themes & Appearances window. The following Chain Types are available:

       Segue, Auto Post, Link-Song, Stop

Important Note!

Chain type changes made in the Segue Editor are not reflected dynamically in the Log. The changes must be saved before the change is seen in the Log.

However, chain type changes made in the Log are reflected dynamically in the Segue Editor. After a change is made in the Log, the Segue Editor reloads the transitions.

 

Keyboard Commands

The Keyboard can also be used to control the playing and stopping of the audio in the Segue Editor.

Use the Space bar to Play or Stop the play of the audio. When the waveform has focus, pressing the space bar will start the audio playing. If the audio is already playing, pressing the spacebar will stop the audio from playing.

The following Keyboard Commands are set for the Default System Keyboard Mapping (SegueTool.) configured in the Command Mappings tab of the System Configuration window.

Simulation Mode

To monitor the current segue settings follow these steps:

  1. To put the Segue Editor into simulation mode the lock in the toolbar must be in the locked position .
  2. Click the play button to start playing the first event in the segue window. The next event will play at the designated segue point and continue playing the other items in the Segue Editor window until the stop button is selected or the end of the last event is reached.

 

Reposition Mode

To reposition the current segue settings follow these steps:

  1. To put the Segue Editor into reposition mode the lock in the toolbar must be in the unlocked position .
  2. Click the play button to start playing the first event in the segue window.
  3. Click the play button a second time when the desired segue position is reached in the first audio event.
  4. Click ahead with the mouse to the ending of the second audio event.
  5. Click play again to start the third audio event at the desired segue point.
  6. Click Stop when finished.
  7. Click the Lock  to put the Segue Editor back into Simulation mode to listen to the playback of how the audio will sound on the air.
  8. Click the Save button when the desired segues have been set or click the Go To Next Segue button, a prompt will be displayed to commit any changes made to the database and proceed to the next audio event.

 

Setting Volume Points

To add volume points to an audio event follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the desired audio event waveform
  2. Choose Insert Volume Point from the menu. Repeat this step for the desired number of volume points.
  3. To adjust volume points drag them up or down to adjust the volume to the desired dB level.
  4. When finished editing the audio event click the Save button.

 

Setting the Chain Type

Users can set the chain type of the tracks displayed in the Segue Editor view by clicking on the Chain Type button to the right of the event title in the header of the track and selecting either  Segue, Auto Post, Link-Song mode or   Stop.

To set the chain type for an audio event follow these steps:

Segue
  1. Insert a segue point into the second to last audio event shown in the Segue Editor.
    1. Right-click the desired location of the waveform
    2. Choose Insert Segue from the menu
  2. Click Save

 

Auto Post
  1. Insert an Intro point into the last audio event shown in the Segue Editor
    1. Right-click the desired location of the last waveform in the Segue Editor
    2. Choose Insert Intro from the menu
  2. Choose Auto Post from the Chain Type drop-down.
  3. Click Save and the audio will line up the intro of the last event with the end of the preceding event.

Link-Song
  1. Choose Link-Song from the Chain Type drop-down.
  2. Insert an Early Segue point into the second to last audio event shown in the Segue Editor
    1. Right-click the desired location of the last waveform in the Segue Editor
    2. Choose Insert Early Segue from the menu
  3. Insert an Intro point into the last audio event shown in the Segue Editor
    1. Right-click the desired location of the last waveform in the Segue Editor
    2. Choose Insert Intro from the menu
  4. Click Save .

In this mode, setting the Early Segue point on the link will set the start of the next event at the early segue point of the previous event.

However, if the intro is too short, then the previous event will end at the intro point of the next event and the Early Segue will be automatically adjusted.
