Welcome < Modules < Zetta Multitrack Editor < Projects

Projects

The Projects tab of the Zetta Editor is where the user records, plays, edits and mixes audio. Audio can be added to a track(s) using the Add Audio button, from the Audio List pane or by dragging and dropping the audio from another module in Zetta® or from the Windows desktop. Assets can be opened from the Library, edited in the Zetta Editor and then saved back to the Library. When an asset is open in the Zetta Editor the Projects tab will show the asset type icon and the title of the asset. The name of the Project tab will show with an asterisk * when there are unsaved changes in the project. With multiple tracks, when a track is selected in the editor the background will change colors. When an Audio Section is selected in a track, the title header will display in purple. Click and drag left or right in the tracks of the editor to select a Highlighted Region. A track can be cleared by selecting the audio section in the track and pressing delete on the keyboard. Multiple Projects can be open and edited simultaneously. Audio can be recording in one project while the user is editing another project. To close a Project, use the x next to the name in the project tab.

Single Track Editor Project

When the Zetta Editor is launched using the Quick Record option in the Module menu or the Zetta Single Track Editor in the Edit Audio menu, the Project will contain a single track and the Side Panel will be hidden. When only one track is visible in the Zetta Editor the track is automatically armed for recording using the configured Zetta Editor Default Audio Input. Optionally, the Zetta.OpenQuickRecorder task can be added using the Command Mappings to launch the Zetta Single Track Editor and automatically begin recording.

Side Panel Track Controls

The Side Panel holds the controls for each track. When a Multitrack Editor Project is created this Side Panel is shown on the left side of the window. When a Single Track Editor Project or Quick Record is created this Side Panel is hidden. The Toggle button menu can be used to toggle the side panel on and off.

The following settings are available from the track control.

Track Length - The Track Length is shown to the right of the Track number. The value is shown in orange during recording and green if not recording. The value displayed is the amount of time between the first trim-in on the track and the last trim-out on the track (not necessarily starting at time 0). When there is no audio on the track the area is blank.

Solo - The Solo button will mute all other tracks and show only the current track as an enabled track. When the track is selected as Solo the button will change to a yellow color.

Mute - The Mute button will mute the track when the tracks are played. Multiple tracks can be muted.

Arm Track - The Arm Track button will mark the selected track as enabled for recording. Tracks with the armed button selected will record when the play controls record button is selected. All tracks can be armed to record simultaneously as long as each track has a separate audio input selected. Recordings are done at a default format of PCM at a sample rate of 44100 and a sample width of 16-bit. When the Zetta Editor only has a single track in the project the track is automatically set to armed. Recordings are given a file name based on the convention specified in the Quick Record section of the Voice Track and Quick Record tab of the System Configuration window.

Live Track Record - The Live Track Record will start and stop recording on the track associated with the button selected. This button acts entirely independent of the main play controls at the bottom of the Zetta Editor window. Users can ad hoc start recording into any track without the need to arm the track, and stop it by hitting the (in-track record) button again. Multiple ad hoc in-track recordings can run simultaneously and because they are not affected by the controls in the bottom panel, allow for the 'live track' functionality in any track. By using the ALT key while clicking this record button the Zetta Editor will start both the playback of the tracks and recording of this selected track. Clicking this record button again stops the recording but not playback. Press and hold the CTRL while clicking the Add Marker button to add the Track # Recording position at the current position of a live track recording.

Levels - The Levels of the right and left channels are visible in the far right of the Track Control section when the audio is being recorded.

Audio Input - The Audio Input drop-down displays the Zetta Editor Default Audio Input selected in the Audio Assignments tab of the Computer Configuration window. To change the audio input, use the drop-down to select an installed device on the local computer. Each track can be reconfigured to have a separate audio input.

Record Mode - Each track can be reconfigured to have a separate record mode. Stereo uses both channels of the audio input selected. The waveform is displayed for both the right and left channels. The left channel only option, records in mono using the left channel of the audio input selected and shows a single channel in the waveform of the track. The right channel only option, records in mono using the right channel of the audio input selected and shows a single channel in the waveform of the track.

Gain Level

The Gain Level is used to increase or decrease the volume of a section of audio in a track. The Gain Level control is enabled in the Advanced button drop-down. This option puts a yellow line at 50% for each of the audio sections in the Zetta Editor.

Use the mouse to click and drag the line to increase or decrease the gain. Dragging the line up, can increase the volume of the section to a maximum gain of 100%. While dragging the line down can decrease the volume of the section to a maximum loss of 0%.

Insert Trim In

Trim In marks the start point of the audio. Audio before the Trim In point will be ignored. Every piece of audio has a Trim In and Trim Out marker. To adjust the Trim In marker click and drag the left most red line of the audio wave form to the left or right to move the Trim In marker. The audio being trimmed will be displayed while the marker is being dragged to a new position. To remove the Trim In, simply drag the marker all the way to the left.

Insert Trim Out

Trim Out marks the end point of the audio. Audio after the Trim Out point will be ignored. Every piece of audio has a Trim In and Trim Out marker. To adjust the Trim Out marker click and drag the right most red line of the audio wave form to the left or the right to move the Trim Out marker. The audio being trimmed will be displayed while the marker is being dragged to a new position. To remove the Trim Out, simply drag the marker all the way to the right.

Send Highlighted Region or Clip to Voice Track

With the Zetta Editor and the Voice Tracker open in Zetta, the user can drag and drop any highlighted region or Clip to the Voice Tracker to replace the empty voice track position. This can be accomplished in either multitrack or single track projects.

To highlight a region simply click and drag the mouse over the desired audio in the track(s). The user can then click and drag the selected region to the Voice Tracker and drop it. If one track is highlighted the audio is simply inserted into the track of the Voice Tracker. If multiple tracks are highlighted the audio is mixed and dropped into the track of the Voice Tracker.

If a Clip is created the Clip can be dragged and dropped from the Clip List of the Zetta Editor into the Voice Tracker.
