On Demand Recording

The On Demand Recording configuration window is used to configure different record settings for on the fly recordings. On Demand recordings can be used for quick recordings such as phone calls or interviews. They can be setup to record to File, Asset or FTP site. On Demand recordings can also be used for Podcasting or News Reports that are sent to an FTP site to be picked up by other agencies. On Demand Recordings can be configured on the fly by inserting an Execute Command into a Station Log, Recorder Log or Macro. They can also be controlled using the Command Mappings to a GPIO device using the tasks, Sequencer.OnDemandRecording.Insert/Start/Pause/Stop/Eject and Background.OnDemandRecording.Insert/Start/Pause/Stop/Eject. On Demand recordings uses a configured record device for a computer and a configured Audio Format. See the Audio Inputs tab for the Computer that will do the recording before configuring On Demand recording. The left side of the tab shows the configure On Demand Recordings, the right side of this tab shows the configured settings for the selected On Demand recording.

On Demand Recording Configuration Options

When the Add Recording button is selected the following fields are available to configure the Recording. The Custom Filtering field below the Name column header can be used to filter the list. Simply type into the field to narrow the list to the On Demand Recording needed. See the Custom Filtering section of the guide for additional help using the filtering.

Name

Audio Input

Enable Route on recording start

Route state on recording stop

Recording Length

Audio Format

Record To

Name

Use the 'Name' field to give the recording a unique meaningful name so it can be recognized elsewhere in the Zetta application. Custom Filtering can be used to filter the On Demand recordings defined using the Name pane to the left of the defined fields.

Audio Input

The 'Audio Input' drop-down shows all the audio inputs for all the configured computers in the Zetta database. This is the audio input that is setup in the Audio Inputs tab of the Computers configuration. The Audio input should be from a device that will be available at the required time. If the audio input is being shared with Voice Tracking or Quick Record it is evident that no VT or QR can occur during an On Demand recording.

Enable Route on recording start

The 'Enable Route on recording start' drop-down shows all the configured routes in the database. Use the drop-down to select a route to enable when the recording starts. When the recording starts the route will be turned on. This puts the route change command into the record event rather than requiring separate route change commands in the log. Where a large number of routes are configured for the system the user can simply start typing in the field to narrow the results. This allows the user to easily find the route they need. This setting is optional. The default setting for Enable Route is None.

Route state on recording Stop

Use the 'Route state on recording Stop' drop-down to select the action Zetta is to perform when the recording is finished. Zetta can turn the route off or keep the route on. If the Enable Route on recording start option is set to None the 'Route state on recording Stop' option is disabled.

Recording Length

The 'Recording Length' is the maximum record duration of the recording. Record Length must reflect the maximum expected length of the target event.

Audio Format

The 'Audio Format' drop-down is used to select a configured format that has been added to Zetta using the Audio Format tab.

Record To

Use the 'Record To' drop-down to select where the recording will be saved.

Asset - Selecting the Asset option will require a pre-configured asset be dropped into the Asset field found below the Record To field. Use the Delete button to the right of the Asset field to remove an added asset.

File - The File option will require a UNC or Local directory path for storing the file. The File Path field is found below the Record To field when File is selected.  The File Path can have variables in the file name so a different recording is created each time the file is created. The File path will need to be shared if it is to be accessible to all machines which will be accessing this directory. File Path must include the target file name and extension. The extension should match the Format defined.

Example: c:\Recordings\Caller1\ondemand_@Y@M@D_@H.mp3

FTP - The FTP option is used to configure FTP settings to allow Zetta to upload the recording to an FTP site.  This is useful for Podcasts and on the fly News Reports.  Use the following FTP settings to setup a connection to an FTP server.

FTP host name - The FTP host name is the URL address to the FTP server.

Example: ftp.mystation.com

FTP user name - The FTP user name is the user name with rights to write to the FTP server. If the user name and password are left blank, Zetta will use the anonymous login.

FTP password - The password is the password for the user name entered. If the user name and password are left blank, Zetta will use the anonymous login.

FTP remote file path - The FTP remote file path is the file path on the FTP Server where the recording will be saved when Zetta sends it to the FTP server.

Example: Recordings/Caller1/ondemand_@Y@M@D_@H.mp3

FTP passive - FTP may run in active or passive mode, which determines how the data connection is established to the FTP server. Contact the FTP administrator for more information on setting this option.

Enable SSL - To use FTPS (also known FTP-SSL, and FTP Secure) select the checkbox next to the Enable SSL option. Contact the FTP administrator for more information on setting this option.

Test FTP Settings - The Test FTP Settings button will use the entered setting information to establish a test connection to the FTP server. If the settings are correct and Zetta can establish a connection to the FTP server the user will receive a Success message.

Important Note!

If an asterisk (*) is displayed next to the system <Name>, it indicates there are unsaved changes.
