Emergency On-Air Local Mode

Using the Emergency On-Air Local Mode is identical to using the On-Air module. Each computer in Zetta can be configured to have the ability to Go Local. This means the local computer will use a copy of the main database that is saved and synchronized on to the local computer. When the computer is in this mode, it will be completely separate from the rest of the machines that are in the Zetta database site and the user will see a flashing (LOCAL MODE) in the title bar of the Main Zetta application. Once the Local Mode is configured, Local Mode can be started by clicking the Go Local button in the Tools | Database Management window. When the Local Mode starts it will continue with the on-air event that was playing when the system switched. The Local Database is an exact duplicate of the main database and all devices and services configured for the local computer will still function. The user can add and change assets as needed in this state, however when returning to the Primary database these changes will not be present. To go back to the main site database, click the Go Back to Primary Database Manager button.

Important Note!

Local Mode uses SQL LocalDB which has a 10GB maximum size for the database.

Installation of Services

Local Mode uses the RCS Local Database Manager with SQL Local DB. These services can be installed on every machine when Zetta Client is installed.

Configuration of Zetta for Local Mode

In the Computer Configuration Details tab there is a check-box called Maintain Local Copy Of Database. When this option is selected in Zetta, it will put the local database manager into Local Restore state. Zetta will copy the latest backup and transaction logs of the database to the local computer and the local database manager will automatically restore those backups onto this local database. The Backups for this feature are configured in the Database Mirroring or Database Configuration windows.

To configure Zetta for Local Mode, perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the Computer Configuration window.
  2. Select the computer that will have the Local Database.
  3. Go to the Local Audio Storage to configure the Local Audio Store.
  4. Browse or enter the location for the Local Audio Store.
  5. Select the Audio Localization scope.
  6. If Station-related is selected as the scope, select Computer-assigned via station configuration and/or Computer-assigned via Hot Spare configuration.
  7. Optionally, select additional Stations or Station Groups to localize on this computer.
  8. Select the Audio to localize from the list of options.
  9. In the Details tab set the Local Operating Path and the Audio Store Playback Priority.
  10. Select the Maintain Local Copy Of Database option. The option is only available from the computer that will be running in Local Mode.
  11. Save the computer changes
  12. Close the Computers window.
  13. Go to the Database Mirroring tab in the System Configuration.
  14. Select Enable Daily Backups
  15. Insert a Daily backup start time for the daily backups
  16. Select Enabled Transaction Log Backups
  17. Set the number of Minute(s) to wait before the backup of the transaction log occurs again. The transaction log holds the changes that are made to the database between each full backup.
  18. Set the number of Day(s) to wait before deleting a backup using the Delete Backups After field. Be mindful of the space available on the local computer.
  19. Once the Backup Runs and is Successfully restored to SQL Express that was installed to the Local Machine, the Go Local button in the Database Management Tool or Database Configuration window can be used to switch the computer to the local database.
  20. The user will then be required to confirm the switch to the local database for the station which the computer is configure.
  21. Click Yes to continue to Local Mode.
  22. Use the Refresh button to refresh the Database Management window.

Important Note!

When the computer is configured to use Local DB the computer may show signs of delay as Zetta prepares a Backup and Restore, of the Main database to the local computer, for initial use.

Switch back to Main Database

To switch back to the Main Database from Local Mode, perform the following steps:

  1. In the Database Management Tool click the Go Back to Primary Database Manager. This will switch the computer from looking at the Local Database to the Primary Main Database for the site. The station will switch to the same position in the log that it was playing in when it changed from Local mode.
  2. The user will then be required to confirm the switch back to the Primary database.
  3. Click Yes to return to the Main database.
