Database Configuration Toolbar

The toolbar at the top of the window contains the following options:

Add Secondary Database Manager - Use the Add Secondary Database Manager button to create new connection to a secondary database.

Refresh DBMS List - The Refresh DBMS List button will refresh the screen to its last saved state, undoing any changes that have been made.

Remove Secondary Database Manager – Use the Remove Secondary Database Manager button to remove the connection to the selected secondary database.

Save – Use the Save button to save the configuration changes.

Database Information

The Database Information section of this window shows information about the primary SQL database for Zetta.

Status

The Status shows the status of the server and the accessibility.

Server

The Server field shows the windows name or IP address of the server that is running the SQL database.

Auto Export Connection Info Options

The Auto Export Connection Info Options section is used to enable the automatic export of the database connection information to a file. The connection information will be exported to the c:\ProgramData\RCS\Zetta\DatabaseManagement\Logging\Connection Info\ folder when enabled. The file exported will follow the following naming convention: DAY_HOUR_SERVER - PORT (STATE).ConnectionInfo.txt

Example: 28_15_RCS-SEQ1 - 42381 (Primary).ConnectionInfo.txt

Use the Enable auto export of connection information check box to enabled the export of the connection information for the database. This option is disabled by default. The exports will follow the Start Time and Interval set.

Export Connection Info

The Export Connection Info button will export a tab delimited file with the iinformation about existing connections to the DBMS. The file will include the information about all known open connections (IP, port, date/time the connection was created (if known) and any other information for each open connection to DBMS). The file can be saved to any selected location. The default file name will following the above naming convention.

Instance

The Instance field shows the Instance name for the database of the primary SQL server.

Name

The Name field shows the name of the Zetta database.

Username/Password

The Username and Password fields are the name and password of the account with security rights to access the database.

Connection string extended properties

Connection string extended properties field can be used to add extended properties to the connection. Contact RCS Support before changing this field.

Named pipe

The Named Pipe field shows named pipe connection. This is typically shown for Local Mode configurations.

Port

The Port field shows the port used for the database of the primary SQL Server. The port would be shown if the connection was a server/port connection instead of a server/instance connection.

Database Management Service Information

The Database Management Service Information shows the information about the database and the option to enable the Maintain Local Copy of Database to have Zetta copy a backup of the database to the local computer. This local database can be used for Local Mode in cases of an off air emergency or software update. This section also allows the user to Go Local or Go back to Primary. If this is a secondary mirrored server the Make Primary button is shown similar to the Database Management window.

Database Mirroring Options

The Database mirroring options are similar to those found in the Database Mirroring tab of the System Configuration window.

Enable Daily Backups

Select the Enable Daily Backups check-box and set the Start time for the backup to have Zetta create a SQL Backup of the database. This backup can then be restored to a backup SQL Server.

Daily Backup start time

Use the Daily Backup start time field to set the time of day for the daily back to run. Use the Force full backup to create a new full backup. Forcing a full backup will restart the transaction log backups and reset the Backup ID to 0.

Delete Backups After X Day(s)

The 'Delete Backup After XX Day(s)' option is used to set the number of days Zetta should retain the backups before deleting them.

Database Backup root path

The Database Backup root path is the path on the local computer or a UNC path for Zetta to store the daily backups. The computer running the database manager and the SQL server will need access to this path. The database manager is selected during the client installation process.

Windows Username and Password

Use the Windows Username and Password fields to enter a valid username and password with access rights to the Database Backup root path and Database download/restore path. The user must have read and write rights.

Enable Transaction Log Backups

Every SQL Server database has a transaction log that records all transactions and the database modifications made by each transaction. The transaction log is a critical component of the database and, if there is a system failure, the transaction log might be required to bring the database back to a consistent state. Transaction log backups can be used to restore a database to a specific point in time. A transaction log backup alone is not sufficient to restore a database.

Backup Transaction Logs every xx minute(s)

Use the Backup Transaction Logs every xx minute(s) field to set how often the transaction logs are backed up. 15 minutes is the default. This field is enabled with the Enable Transaction Logs backups option.

Max number of restore failures to force full backup

Use the Max number of restore failures to force full backup field to set the number of times a transaction log restore can fail before a full backup is taken.

Enable Automatic restores

The Enable Automatic restores enables the restore of the transaction logs and full backups to keep the mirrored databases in sync.

Database download/restore path

The Database download/restore path is the path on the local computer for Zetta to look for a backup to restore.

SQL Server database files path

The SQL Server database files path is the path to the files for the current database for the SQL server instance. An installation of SQL Server consists of one or more separate instances. An instance, whether default or named, has its own set of program and data files, as well as a set of common files shared between all instances of SQL Server on the computer.

Backup/Restore Information

Once the backups are enabled a status is displayed in the Backup/Restore Information section of the window.  The Backup Type shows the last type of backup that was performed. The Backup ID shows the number of transaction backups that have been created since the last full backup. Use the Force Full Backup to obtain a new backup and restart the transaction log backups. Use the Refresh button in the toolbar to refresh the status of the backups.
