The currently highlighted song position and total number of songs in the Category are shown at the bottom of each pane.

Categories Selection

At the top of each pane is a drop down box. Click the drop-down arrow to open a list of Categories. Select a Category from the list and enter to display the contents of that Category in that pane.

NOTE: A Category can only be selected once. A selected Category cannot be selected again for another Category pane.

Moving Songs from Category to Category

Note: When the category of a song/link is changed, daypart bans will be preserved but the daypart shifts resets to 0. Given that the daypart shifts are relative to the category, they need to be reset when the category changes.

  1. First select the source and target Categories in two or more panes.
  2. Select one or more Songs in the source Category pane, and drag to a target Category pane.

Moving Song Groups from Category to Category

Special provisions govern moving Songs in Song Groups . Because Song Groups can contain songs in multiple categories, they will only be displayed together in any Category pane if they are in the same Category, and the only way to know if the Song is in a Group at all is if you use a browse format  which includes the Song Group field. When you drag a Song in the Group to another Category, you will  move that Song in the usual way, whether the Song is in a Group or not. But if the Song Group has a shared Category Attribute, all the Songs display in the same Category pane, and dragging one Song take all the other songs with it to the new Category. See the Song Groups topic for full details.

Playing Audio Shortcuts

Keyboard Shortcuts can also be used to initiate the play of a single audio event or a list of audio events. Ctrl+F11 will play a single element. In a list, it will play the element having focus. Alt+F11 will play elements in a list consecutively. In a list, Alt+F11 will play the element having focus. When that element finishes playing, the next element lower in the list will play. This process will continue until the bottom of the list is reached. In a non-list context, such as in the song editing window, Ctrl+F11 and Alt+F11 will play only the current element. See the Using Audio in GSelector topic for more information on playing audio.

Sorting and Formatting

As with all Browses, the columns in each Category pane can be sized and sorted. For full details, see the notes in the Working with Browses topic. GSelector will remember the sorts and column sizes applied in each pane from the previous editing session.

Jumping to the Song window

  1. Select any song in the Category panes or the Inactive Song list.
  2. Double-click
  3. This takes you to the relevant Song window.

Customizing a Browse format

You can design one or more custom browse formats to apply to all Active Category panes, by working in the Browse Formats Design window. Once you have designed one or more new formats, you can assign a default format to use in this window in the Browse Formats Assignment window. You can use any field in the Song window or Additional Information window in the format.

Working with Child stations

In the Category Changer window in a Child Station, you cannot drag a Song from an inherited Category to another Category, nor can you change its Active status. You can change the Category of a Song in a copied Category, or in a Category that you have created in the Child Station, as long as the target Category is not Inherited.
