GSelector provides an Interface window in the Setup section to use with Master Control for the selected GSelector station. This allows the GSelector database to connect with the database to export and import data for broadcast, research and reconciliation purposes. As schedules and library information are exported, GSelector tracks each item with a unique reference number for each exported item. The total number of item references is displayed here; each Song and Link that has been associated shows this data in the Song and Link Interfaces tab panes. This window is also used to setup a connection with a S3 Publisher. Contact RCS for more information on the S3 feature.
NOTE: If you have implemented an Interface in the NexGen Integration window, you are working at Database level. This blocks you from setting up an Interface at Station level in this window.
Click Setup, then Station, and finally Interfaces, to access a window similar to this illustration.
Click any area in this window for help
The Edit button is used to configure settings for any selected interface. The toolbar is also used to Save or Cancel any changes.
Check this box to activate the selected system in GSelector. This will activate fields associated with each assigned system in GSelector Editor and Clock windows. You can assign multiple systems. This will also create an associated Export section window which allows you to export to the assigned system.
All currently configured systems are listed in this field.
This field cannot be edited. It displays a count of all items in assigned to each external Master Control database that has been associated with the GSelector database. When a Song or Link has been associated with one or more external databases, a unique reference number is displayed for that external database in the Song or Link window Interface References tab. Reference numbers are also used when Importing Data from an external XML database. See the duplicates notes in the Import XML window topic.
Manual Synchronization (disable Automatic Synchronization)
To configure a Master Control interface, select the item and then double click, check the relevant box, click the toolbar Edit button or press Enter on your keyboard. This will open the respective configuration window.
When GSelector is interfaced with Master Control, scheduling is done in GSelector and audio playout is handled by Master Control. Once a schedule has been created and edited in GSelector, it is exported to Master Control for playout. A separate function known as Synchronization “matches” songs and links in the two systems. This allows you to edit program elements in one system, and for these to be carried over to the other. Synchronization also reconciles past schedules from Master Control, bringing Master Control log changes back to GSelector. This keeps the schedule history in GSelector accurate and up-to-date. Once the interface access and path information has been entered, and the interface has been assigned in this Interface window, GSelector users can export and import information from Master Control; Master Control-specific fields are displayed in the Clock Designer window and all Editor formats. A Master Control Export button is displayed in the Editor window toolbar, and the Interface section Master Control window tab is displayed.
See the Interfacing with Master Control notes for full information, and the separate 'Importing from Selector XV to GS' help document.
NOTE: Automatic Synchronization for the Editor is disabled. Use the Export to Master Control toolbar button in the Editor to send schedule changes to Master Control. To make this easier GSelector will detect those hours that have been changed and show a ‘Synchronize Changed Hours’ option.
If the database has been rebuilt after a network failure, use the Setup Station button to send to Master Control all Songs in the GSelector database, and all Links in each station associated with Master Control. Do NOT use this button unless there is an existing corresponding Master Control database.
GSelector allows very detailed security access this interface. In the Security Roles window, define three access levels for any User: Read, Read and Write, and No Access. See Working with Security for more details.
