Dayparts are parts of the broadcast day. For each of these parts of the day, you can set goals in the Goals Balance windows. From this Setup section window, you add, edit and manage Dayparts, Daypart Groups, and assign Daypart Priorities. Dayparts are assigned to the broadcast day in the Dayparts Assignment window.
Dayparts are sorted in order of Priority in this window. GSelector uses the order in which you rank the Dayparts in scheduling, scheduling each Daypart in turn. The most important Daypart - the Daypart at the top of the list - is treated as the default Daypart in all Goals Balance windows. Dayparts are also used to define No Repeat time zones and as Daypart Overrides in a Clock Assignments grid.
GSelector supplies five default Dayparts (Overnight, AM Drive, Mid-Day , PM Drive and Night) on initial installation of the program, or after creating a new station. The installed Dayparts are assigned in the Daypart Assignment window, and can be viewed in the Attributes tab of the Browse window. These settings can be edited or deleted.
<TWOFERS> NOTE: When you check the Allow Twofers checkbox in the Station Settings: Features Setup window, this creates a virtual <Twofer> Daypart, just for Artist Block Clock Positions. This Daypart works with the existing Daypart. The <Twofer> Daypart is not shown here, but it is accessed in the Balance windows from the Daypart Selection field. For more information on the <Twofer> Daypart Process, see the Artist Blocks topic.
Important Note: Assigning one Daypart to the entire week is not good practice and can cause slowness of the system.
Click the Setup tab, then Dayparts, then Definition, to view a screen similar to this illustration. This illustration is reduced in scale to better fit in the help window. The pane displays the current Daypart priority order, shows if Dayparts are Assigned (see the Daypart Assignment window notes), or Grouped, and indicated the Daypart region.

From this toolbar, you can Add, Edit, Change the Priority of, or Delete a Daypart or Daypart Group. You can also Copy settings from one Daypart to another.
You cannot directly edit this field. The field indicates if the selected Daypart has been assigned the Daypart Grid in the Daypart Assignment window. Note that you cannot delete a Daypart that has been assigned.
You cannot directly edit this field. To rename a Daypart, see the Edit Daypart notes in this topic.
Daypart Groups let you speed up the way your Goals are set up in Dayparts. You can assign two or more Dayparts to the same Daypart Group. For example, you could assign AM Drive and PM Drive to a “Drives” Daypart group. Selecting the Auto Copy Song/Link Data between Grouped Dayparts option in the Setup | Station | Features | Balance tab will copy changes set in Balance windows to all Dayparts in a Daypart Group. You assign a Daypart to a Group in the New Daypart window or the Edit Daypart window.
NOTE: When you first Group two or more Dayparts together, the settings for the groups become one and the same. The settings for the most important Daypart - the Daypart that is highest in the Dayparts Definitions list - are copied to the lower Daypart or Dayparts. However, as soon as you edit a Goal setting for any Grouped Daypart, that setting is applied to all Dayparts in the Group.
Note: Limit balance settings do not get copied to other dayparts in the group.
This Daypart region field displays the Region if any that has been assigned to all Dayparts. If no Daypart Regions have been assigned or created, the default Region for all Dayparts is shown as Normal. To change a Daypart's Region, work in the Edit Daypart window. Daypart Regions are defined in the Setup section of GSelector. For full details, see the Daypart Regions notes.

Dayparts are sorted by order of importance in the Dayparts Definition window. Select a Daypart, and click the Move Up and Down Arrow buttons to move that Daypart up and down the list.
GSelector uses the Daypart priority order you set here in several ways. In Goals Balance and Categories windows, your most important Daypart - the Daypart at the top of the list - is presented as the default Daypart. When using the Scheduler, the day is scheduled, Daypart by Daypart, in the sequence set in this window. Finally, the least important Daypart is used by the Kick scheduling feature.
Click the Add button to open the New Daypart window. The window opens displaying a Source Daypart in the Source field. This is the selected Daypart in the Daypart Definitions window.
In the Dayparts Definition window, select a Daypart and click the toolbar delete button or press Del on your keyboard. You cannot delete a Daypart which is assigned to one or more hours. Go to the Dayparts Assignment grid window, remove the Daypart from all the hours it is assigned to, then delete the Daypart.
Editing in the Daypart Definition window activates the Save button. Click this button to save your changes. If you do not click the button before exiting this window, you will be prompted to save your changes.
Click the Cancel button to re-read the original settings and return to the window to its last saved state.
Click the Copy button to open the Copy Daypart box (see notes here). This window is also accessed from the Categories and Balance tab Artist, Attributes, Participants, and Song demand windows.
Note: Limit balance settings do not get copied to other dayparts.
Daypart settings made in the Song or Link window in the Station coding pane and the Goals Balance Song window are not copied when grouping Dayparts. These settings are Song and Link-specific, and allow the user to ban, boost or reduce play during individual Dayparts. These individual settings are not changed by the grouping process. So a change to AM Drive Daypart settings in the Station Coding pane or the Goals Balance Song window will not be copied to the PM Drive Daypart in the same "Drives" group.
