Multi Station Scheduler

This window allows the user to schedule or unschedule one or more Stations simultaneously, working from any Station. The stations to schedule are selected in the Multi Station Scheduler window. GSelector also makes provision for scheduling conflicts (Cross Station Scheduling) between stations, where there is a need to avoid the same song being transmitted simultaneously on two stations.

Date and Time range fields

These fields are the same as to those in the Current Station tab window. See the Selecting date ranges notes in the Scheduler window for details. There is no limit to the number of consecutive days you can call to be scheduled in one operation, subject only to the terms of the GSelector license for each station being scheduled.

NOTE: When scheduling a single day, the Date fields automatically reset to show the next unscheduled day at the end of scheduling. When scheduling multiple days (more than one day at a time), the date fields do not reset automatically.

By default the time range begins at the start of the From hour and finishes at the end of the Thru hour. Optionally, the time granularity can be changed using the Time Granularity of Scheduling and Reports option, in the Miscellaneous tab of the Setup | Station | Features window, to select the time up to the Minute or Second.

Wrap, Block or Hour Grid selection

After the start and end dates and hours to schedule are entered in the Dates and Hours Pane, the user can define further what they want scheduled.  When selecting the Wrap feature the scheduled range will include all hours and days specified in the range.  So if the Range selected were From: Sat 12/25/2010 at 8 AM Thru: Fri 12/31/2010 at 2PM the hours scheduled would be from 8AM on the 25th of December thru 2PM the 31st of December, but if the user were to select Block for the same range the hours scheduled would be only 8AM thru 2PM on the selected days the rest of the hours on the selected days would not be scheduled. When using an Hour Grid the user will select an existing Hour Grid from a drop-down list or use the import button to Import an Hour Grid from another station within the database.  When the Grid Inclusion option is selected the hours that are selected in the Hour Grid will be the only hours included for the Date and Time range specified.  If the Grid Exclusion is selected the hours in the Hour Grid will be excluded for the Date and Time Range selected.

Date and Time range fields with NexGen

Special conditions apply when generating a schedule across multiple stations if at least one GSelector station is interfaced with NexGen. See the NexGen Scheduling notes in the main   Scheduler window topic. You will not be able to select a date in the past, or schedule from the current or the next hour if you are sending a schedule to NexGen. In this case, you should schedule for NexGen stations separately from non-NexGen stations.

Schedule Settings

The Schedule Setting window allows the user to select the following additional options when scheduling.

Export after Schedule

Scheduling Songs, Notes, Links, and Related Links separately

Export checkbox

If the Export box is checked, GSelector will generate an export file for each date within the specified range for the current station. The last loaded schedule export format used in the Export Schedule window is used. This feature is designed for GSelector users who don't need to review or edit the schedule before exporting it. The setting is saved when you close this window.

Scheduling Songs, Notes, Links and Related Links separately

To schedule just Songs, Notes, Links or Related Links, check or uncheck the appropriate box. Typically, this allows a user to put the music schedule in place and add links at a later stage, allowing them to take advantage of Link to Song and Song to Link Texture Link Segue Ban settings.

Unschedule Button

Click this button to unschedule the selected date range across the selected stations.

Unschedule Settings

The Unschedule Settings allow the user to select the following additional options when unscheduling.

  2. Click the Unschedule Setting drop-down
  3. Uncheck Songs, Notes, Links or Related

  5. Click Yes to confirm the Schedules and assets to be unscheduled.

This option can also be used to partially unschedule from a Pass Order Limit, or to unschedule a Specific Song Category Group or Link Category Group using the Limit Type option in the Unschedule Settings.

Conflicts

The Conflicts section of the Multi Station Scheduler can be used to find and fix scheduling conflicts for Songs, Titles, Artists, Albums or Vocalists. Where there is a requirement to avoid the same Song, Title, Artist, Album or Vocalist being scheduled at the same time, overlapping in time or other custom time window on different stations, GSelector will replace the song with the next best choice for the second station in the scheduling check sequence. The scheduling check sequence is set in the Administration Organizations window. In this window, stations are ranked in order of importance. GSelector looks at the most important station first, and then moves on to check for conflicts in the next station in the station selection list, and so on. If a Song is replaced as part of this process in any station, this is reported in the Scheduler History pane. The conflicts listed in the Scheduler History pane can be printed using the Print option in the File menu (CTRL+P).

Find - The Find button will find the conflicts, based on the Settings, for the selected stations and report them in the Scheduler History pane. The information shown for the conflict varies based on the Conflict Attribute Value selected.

Fix - The Fix button will find the conflicts based on the Settings for the selected stations and fix them. If a Song is replaced as part of this process in any station, this is reported in the Scheduler History pane.

Fix Interactively - The Fix Interactively button will find the conflicts based on the Settings for the selected stations and prompt the user to select which station is to be fixed. The station with the highest priority, as selected in the Administration Organizations window, is the default selection. The information shown for the conflict varies based on the Conflict Attribute Value selected.

Conflict Settings

The Settings drop-down in the Conflicts section opens the Conflict settings window.

Threshold - The Threshold setting is used to set the threshold of which GSelector is to check for conflicts of two plays that Overlap, are in the Same Hour, Adjacent Hours or a Custom Time Window. When Custom Time Window is selected the following Custom Threshold setting becomes available.

Custom Threshold - The Custom Threshold is used to select the hours and minutes to check for conflicts. This field becomes available when the above Threshold is set to Custom Time Window.

Conflict Attribute Values - Conflicts can be checked based on the selected attribute values. The default is Song but conflicts can be checked for the same Song, Title, Artist, Album or Vocalist. At least one value must be selected. When the Conflict Attribute is set to Title the Title and Artist are shown for the conflicting titles. If Album is selected the Title and Artist of the conflicting album is shown. If Artist is selected the Title is shown for the conflicting Artists. If Vocalist is selected as the setting the Artist and Title will be shown for the conflicting vocalists.

NOTE: If you don't care about conflicts in a multi-station scheduling run, ignore the Conflicts section.

Publication Status

The Publication Status in the Multi Station Scheduler can be used to set or clear the Publication Status for the selected Stations for the selected Date Range. Select the Publication Status from the drop-down menu and click the Set button to set the Publication Status for the selected stations for the selected date range. Use the Clear button to clear the Publication Status for the selected stations for the selected date range. The history of the change will be shown in the Scheduler History pane.

Station Selection pane

The Station Selection pane on the left allows the user to specify which stations are scheduled when generating a Multi Station schedule from this Station. You can specify different stations for Multi Station scheduling in each Station. However, the station scheduling order, which is set in the Administration Organizations window, is common to all stations in the Licensee group. Use the Select All option to the left to select all the stations in the list, click the Select All again to deselect all the stations. Use the pane divider between the Station Selection and the Scheduler History pane to increase the size of the Station Selection pane.

Scheduler History pane

The bottom-section of the Multi Station Scheduler window displays a History of the Scheduling performed during the users session.

While the scheduling process is running this window is updated. Each row represents a summary of a Scheduling/Unscheduling job that can be expanded to show each pass in the job process. The Cancel button next to the running job can be used to cancel the job. Use the toolbar above this section to Clear Scheduling History and Cancel all Jobs .

Generating a Schedule

Enter or select a Date Range in the Date range boxes. Then click the Schedule button. A Progress window appears to show scheduling status and the Schedule History pane shows the Job is running.

Each day is scheduled, Daypart by Daypart, in the sequence set in the Dayparts Definition window. If Breakfast is the most important Daypart, it will be Scheduled first, followed by the next most important Daypart, and so on, until Scheduling is complete. Once Scheduling is complete, the Progress window closes, and the Scheduler History Pane updates to display the date or dates Scheduled.
