The Add Song window is accessed from the Song window. It allows the user to add or modify Media ID values, Title, Artist, Version, Album, Song Group and Category information to define a new Song.
NexGen users have a secondary field appended to the ID field. This is the Cut field. See the Media ID field when configured for NexGen notes.
TIP: When you add a number of Songs at once, the Newly Added Spread goal is applied to these added songs until they have been played for the first time. This spread goal will separate the first play of newly added songs to best effect, no matter what category each song is assigned to.

Media ID field when working with NexGen
Film Name field (when enabled)
This field allows you to specify an ID value for this song. The field can accept any value, but can be specified as unique and can be Alphanumeric or Numeric, according to the settings you call for in the Setup section Station - Media ID window. The field is also used when working with external playout systems. If the ID format options specified in this window do not match the format value you enter in the ID field, GSelector will prompt you to change the format of the ID you are trying to enter. See the notes on the Media ID error dialog box for details. When GSelector is integrated with Zetta the Media ID will match up to the External ID found in Zetta for the song asset.
NOTE: Leading and Trailing spaces will not be saved to the Media ID. If you enter any leading or trailing spaces in this field a message will be displayed warning that the spaces will be removed.
If Media ID is set to be unique in the Song tab of the Global Setting | Media IDs window the Media ID entered must be unique. If a Media ID is entered that matches the media ID of another Song, a Media ID Error will occur when the user clicks OK and a Media ID Error window will be shown.
GSelector will suggest the next available Media ID and allow the user to click Yes to accept the ID, No to return to the Add Song Link window or Cancel returning to the window (Browse or Song Window) where the Add Song button was clicked.
A secondary NexGen-associated field is used when GSelector is interfaced with NexGen. This field is the NexGen Cut field. When entering Song details, you can enter any three digit numerical value in this field, or leave it at ifs default value of 000. When the GSelector Song entry is then synchronized with NexGen, this value will be overwritten by the synchronization process. The two Media ID fields are then permanently assigned to the Song. For more details, see the notes in the Exporting to NexGen topic . See also the notes on Adding Songs in the Adding Songs and Links using NexGen topic.
In the Add Song window, the Title and Artist fields are mandatory fields - that is, you will not be allowed to save information in a Song window unless you have entered information in these fields. The Artist field allows you to select existing names from active songs in the station, or to enter one or more Artist names. See the notes on entering multiple Artists in this topic.
TIP: When adding Songs by multiple Artists, you can optionally select to automatically also enter each Artist individually as Vocalist Participants. This is an automatic process, implemented in the Artist to Vocalist Settings window.
This numeric field allows entry of the Song duration in minutes and seconds. Like the ID field, information in this field is common and shared across all stations. Many Audio Editors allow you to enter this value automatically, expressed as the difference between the trim out value and the trim in value in the Audio Editor.
NOTE: Durations in the Runtime field can be entered in two ways: by typing a value such as 4:23, or by simply typing 423. Where a Song Runtime is longer than ten minutes, typing 1141 or 11:41 , for example, will enter the same time value in this field.
The Version field is used when working with two or more different mixes or versions that you wish to use, but that you also wish to differentiate between, of the same song. Use the drop-down to select an existing defined version. Select the Clear button to clear the field.
TIP: You can also clear information from any field by selecting the field and pressing the Delete key on your keyboard. Doing this while Category is selected returns the field to Inactive.
The Album field allows you to select existing Album Titles associated with names from active songs in the station, or to enter a new Album name. Select the Clear button to clear the field.
The Song Group field allows you to select an existing Song Group, add a song group, open the song group management window or clear the field. If you add a Song to an existing Song Group, any attribute which is shared will be populated in the Song window. For example, if you select a Song Group which has a shared Album attribute, the Album details will be added in the Album field in this window. For full details see the Implementation notes in the Song Group topic. Click the drop-down arrow to select an existing Song Group. Select the Song Group Quick Create button to open a New Song Group window. Select the Song Group Management button to open the Song Group window. Select the Clear button to clear the field.

This window can be used to simply create a new song group or create a new song group based on the configuration of an existing song group. Select the Source Song Group and enter a new Song Group Name. Click OK to save the changes and return to the underlying window.
Select the Song Group Management button to open the Song Group window. See the Song Groups and Song Groups Settings topics for more details.
This optional field is exposed when the Film Name Attribute is activated. See the Enable Film Attribute notes for details. This field allows you to select existing Film Names from active songs in this station database, or to enter a Film Name. Select the Clear button to clear the field.
The Category field displays the Default Category where this has been assigned in the Categories window. Where no Default Category has been specified, the field displays Inactive. You can select any defined Category by clicking the drop-down arrow. Select the Clear button to clear the field.
This Complete Work option tells GSelector if the song is the Complete Work or just a movement of the complete work. This Complete Work check box works with the Complete Work Name field. If the box is not checked, but a Complete Works Name is given the song is treated as a Movement. If the box is checked and the Complete Work Name is entered the song will be treated as a Complete Work. The Complete Work Legacy Rules can be used to separate movements of the same complete work from each other, and/or separate movements from their complete work.
Example:
Song Title: Four Seasons
Complete Work Name: Four Seasons
Complete Work checked: Yes
Song Title: Spring
Complete Work Name: Four Seasons
Complete Work checked: No
Song Title: Summer
Complete Work Name: Four Seasons
Complete Work checked: No
Complete Work Legacy Rules:
Use the Complete Work Name field to assign the name of the complete work to the song.
Tip: The Complete Work and Movement rules are shown in the Legacy Rules when the Allow Attribute Specific Legacy Rule Priorities option in the Setup | Station | Features | Advanced tab is checked.
The Complete Work Name field is used to assign the name of the complete work to the song. This field works with the Complete Work check box and the Legacy Rules to separate movements of the same complete work from each other, and/or separate movements from their complete work. Click the drop-down to select an existing Complete Work Name or type in a new name into the field. Select the Clear button to clear the field.
NOTE: Consistent spelling is important when entering the name of a complete work. If you vary the spelling of a complete work's name, the movement and complete work separation tests will not function properly because the two different entries will be treated as two different complete works.
GSelector has a single Artist field. When working with Artist Spread (see the Priorities window notes) information in this field is used. However, GSelector allows information entered in this field to be separated and optionally used as Vocalist Participants. To enter more than one Artist for a song, define one or more Separators in the Global Settings: Artist to Vocalist Settings window. Using a defined symbol - for example & or f/ - allow the user to optionally specify each Artist as an Artist Vocalist participant.

TIP: Select the Category field and press the Delete key on your keyboard to change the Category value setting to Inactive; press the Delete key on your keyboard on any other selected field to delete the data from that field.
The larger the underlying library for any organization, the greater the chance that a version of an existing song already exists, but that it is stored in the Inactive part of the library for this station. When adding a song whose details already exist, the Similar Songs window is displayed. Use the mouse to flyover a song to see a tool tip that shows on which station(s) the song is active.
Select the appropriate option:
Add unique song - The Add unique song will add the new song and open the song window for the newly added song.
Load selected song - The Load Selected song option will load the song that is selected in the Similar Songs window into the song window.
Return to add song - The Return to add song will return the user to the Add Song window to allow the user to make changes.
Abort add - the Abort add option will close the Similar Song window and the Add Song window discarding any song addition.

For more detailed information see the Format Parents notes in the New Station window topic.
Just as with 'regular' stations, when you add a Song to a Child Station, Station, that Song is Active for that Station only, and Inactive for all other Stations. If that Song stays active for that Child Station only, you can modify any setting locally. If however you then activate the Song in the Parent Station, you will then apply the Parent settings to that Song, any Inherit settings will then override the settings made in the Child Station. if the Daypart attribute is set to Inherit, this will disable Shifts, Bans, Maximum Per Hour and Minimum Separation settings in the Child Station.
When adding Artist details with multiple performers, you can control how GSelector treats the performers, working in the Artist to Vocalist settings window. This allows you to automatically define each performer as a Vocalist Participant.
