The Hotspot Filter pane pinpoints the least satisfactory scheduling positions of the day: those positions which failed to meet their Goals by the largest margin. When accessing this window, specify the Goals to search by, and the Attributes to search for. The Filter sorts the currently scheduled positions for the day in ascending order by the lowest Score. You can Filter on Songs or Links, for all or selected Goals. From the Filter results pane, click to select any item, and that item is highlighted in the main Editor window. This allows you to edit the Schedule to fix the problem. You can optionally return to the Hot-Spot Filter to find the next problem, or, if you have edited the schedule Goal, you can then Retest the entire day.

When you first access the Hotspots Filter pane, no Filter is applied until you click the Filter button. If you open the Hotspots Filter pane again in any session, results for the previously selected Filter are displayed, until you specify a specific Filter.

Songs and Links button options
You can specify Songs or Links: click the relevant radio button. See the notes on Customizing a Filter request.
Check one or more boxes to specify what Goal Types to Filter for, such as: Spread Goal, Segue Ban, Clock Goals or Minimum Separation. See the notes on Customizing a Filter request.
TIP: Minimum Separation will only be displayed in the Goal Types pane if it is implemented in the Station Setup Features window.
Check one or more Attributes to Filter on. See the notes on customizing a Filter request .
Click to start the Hotspot Filter process. When you first access the Hotspots Filter pane, no Filter is applied until you click the Filter button. If you open the Hotspots Filter pane again in any session, results for the previously selected Filter are displayed, until you specify a specific Filter.
The results of the Filter request are shown in this pane, initially sorted in ascending order by the Lowest Score. That is, the 'worst' scheduling result will be top of the list. Use the scrollbar to work through the list. The list shows every active song in the Database, scored by whatever combination of Goals and Attributes you have selected. If you use more than one Filter when you apply a Filter , the same song or link can appear several times in the list - once for each Filter criterion. The Browse in this pane shows the Category (in the image above, as the Filter is by Category spread, the Category field in the browse is blank), Title, Artist, Lowest Score excluding Radial Spread, Actual Time of nearest conflict, Time Difference between the Song or Link in the Editor and the nearest conflict, and Radial Spread Score.
NOTE: The results in this pane are a direct function of your Station Library and Goal settings. The lower the Score for any item, the greater departure from the natural balance of the Library. However, you should also look at the overall Scores you derive in the Editor pane. If the score is abnormally low, then it is worth looking at the reasons for this score. The Goal setting might be too demanding, or there is a balance issue that could be adjusted.
Once you have adjusted the Goal, you should retest the entire day by clicking the Editor toolbar Retest button.

Click any item in the Hotspots Filter Results pane. This will highlight that item in the log pane at the point of conflict.
The Default Filter settings in the Hotspots will Filter the day's songs by all Goals - Spread, Segue Ban and Clock Goals. All Attributes for these Goals are automatically selected. All boxes in the settings pane are checked. These filter settings can be customized as needed.
Select either the Song or the Link radio button. To apply specific Filter Criteria, select one or more Goals by checking them, and then check or uncheck the Attributes to apply to the day's scheduled items. This lets you zoom in on a specific Goal to see how well it works for you. If you get very high scores - close to 100 - the goal is working well; if you get very low scores, you might wish to adjust settings for that Attribute. The changes made to the Default Filter Settings will be saved based on the scope set in the Editor section of the Settings Persistence window. This means the setting will persist the next time the hotspots filter is used.
If you have edited the Log or adjusted a Goal as a result of the findings in the Hotspots Filter pane, you may wish to re-test the day. Do so by clicking the Re-Test button (see here for details) in the Editor toolbar.
When using Multiple Panes, information displayed in the Hotspots Filter pane is shown for the selected Editor pane. Opening the Hotspots filter pane removes all non-selected Multiple panes from view; closing the Hotspots filter pane will restore the Multiple Pane display.
You can close this window two ways; by pressing the Esc key on your keyboard or by clicking the standard Windows close Icon at the top right of the window.
The Scores you see in the Hotspots Filter pane can be a very useful guide to the kind of threshold settings you can choose to apply in the Lowest Score Threshold tool. While the scores in the Filter results pane will vary according to the settings you apply when re-testing your schedule, they can also give you a useful insight into how your Goals are working, and at what level you might wish to set Threshold values if you use this tool.
