Navigating in GSelector

The Navigation bar is always visible in GSelector. Moving from section to section is straightforward. Each GSelector section is accessed by clicking its tab in the top level of the Navigation Bar, as shown here: clicking the Library tab opens the Library navigation bar below the main Navigation Bar. This image shows the Navigation Bar for the Library with the Browse tab selected from the Library options, for the selected station. In the top bar, in between the Menu and the Navigation history buttons are the audio controls. Across the top of the window is the GSelector version, the logged in users name, the stations name, the station licensee and the location in the application. The application appearance can be changed using the Appearance Style tab in the Global Settings window.

The Menu Bar

Administrative functions and this Help document can be accessed from the menu bar in any section of GSelector. Click here for the menu functions topic.

On Air button

The On Air button next to the Menu will open the Editor to the current day and play position in the Editor. GSelector determines the current position as the event with an airtime that is less than or equal to the system time. If the system is integrated GSelector determines the current position as the event after the last event with a status of Played in the current day. There is also an On Air button in every History Map found in GSelector. When clicking the On Air button in a History Map, the map will jump to the date and hour containing an Airtime less than or equal to the system time or, when integrated with Zetta or Master Control, the map will jump to the data and hour containing the most recent Played status. The Ctrl + Shift + Home keyboard keys will also open the Editor to the current day and play position.

F1 - Help

The F1 function key or the blue question mark can be used to access this Help Guide for the current GSelector window.

F2 - Save Changes

The F2 function key on the keyboard can be used to save changes in any window in GSelector having a Save button in the toolbar.

F12 - User Definable Navigation

Use the F12 keyboard key to open a User Definable Navigation window. This Navigation window can be used to create a customized menu and customized Keyboard shortcuts to fit each user's needs.

F11 - Song and Link Navigation

Using the F11 keyboard key in a field or tab in the Song and Link windows will navigate to a configuration setting or window for that field/tab. For example pressing F11 in the Category field of a song window will navigate GSelector to the Goals | Categories window.

Navigation History buttons

The Navigation History buttons are available everywhere in GSelector. They are located at top right of each window. When you first access GSelector, the launch window displays the buttons in grey; that's because at launch there is no navigation history.

When you navigate between windows, the buttons change color, to show there is navigation history for this session. This lets you jump back and forth between windows. If you click the back button, GSelector jumps to the previous main tab section you were in. For example, if you go to Scheduler then double-click on a date/hour in the grid to go to the Editor, the back button takes you back to the Scheduler tab. Then if you click the forward button, it takes you to the Editor again.

There is also a drop down list to the right of both the forward and back buttons listing the sections visited.

TIP: You can also move back and forward between screens by using the keyboard shortcuts Alt+< and Alt+> to move backwards and forwards, respectively

Multi User Synchronization

Multi User Synchronization allows changes made by one user to be immediately saved and viewed by other users of the same window.

Multi User Schedule Synchronization

Schedule changes made in the Editor are now automatically pushed to all workstations.  For example, if User A deletes a scheduled song in a particular hour and User B is looking at that same hour at another workstation, User B will immediately see the change made by User A.  It is no longer necessary to use the View | Refresh command to display the latest updates in the Editor.

Multi User Song and Link Synchronization

Changes made to songs and links are now automatically pushed to all workstations.  For example, say User A is working in Category Changer and moves a song from Category A to Category B and saves the change.  Further suppose User B is looking at the same song in the editing window.  When User A saves the change User B will immediately see the song’s Category assignment change from A to B.  Song and Link changes propagate to the editing windows, browse lists, Category Changer and all of the Goals | Balance windows for both songs and links.  For example, if User A is working on implementing the results of a new music test by changing song category assignments this will affect demand.  If User B is looking at the Goals | Balance | Songs window she will see the window update immediately according to the actions of User A.

Multi User Notification Messages

The multi user notification system is a message box that pops open in the upper right area of the main GSelector window whenever another user has made a change to a song, a link or a schedule. The message indicates the change made and the user who made the change. It does not show changes you make, just others. This feature works best when users have been defined under GSelector security. The notifications message box can be opened at any time by clicking the notification icon in the upper right of the main GSelector window.

Notifications options

The Notifications options drop-down allows the user to select the notifications they would like to see. Use the checkboxes next to the Notification type to enable/disable it from being displayed. Use the (Select All) option to select/deselect all the notifications in the list. Click OK when finished.
