Association Reports

GSelector provides Association Report formats to create broadcast return reports to copyright authorities and rights collection agencies worldwide. These dedicated report formats are designed in conjunction with local copyright bodies and rights associations for each region. The Association Report can be setup as a Job in the Configuration window of the Tools menu.

NOTE:  The USA BMI and ASCAP reports are generated in the Export Schedule window.

Date and Time Range pane

Enter a Date and Time Range for the selected Association Report.

Note: The Date formats may vary according to your territory. For full details on which formats are accepted in your region, contact your local RCS office.

By default the time range begins at the start of the From hour and finishes at the end of the Thru hour. Optionally, the time granularity can be changed using the Time Granularity of Scheduling and Reports option, in the Miscellaneous tab of the Setup | Station | Features window, to select the time up to the Minute or Second.

Wrap, Block or Hour Grid selection

After the start and end dates and hours to Report are entered in the Date and Time Range fields, the user can define further what they want Reported.  When selecting the Wrap feature the reported range will include all hours and days specified in the range.  So if the Range selected were From: Sat 12/25/2010 at 8 AM Thru: Fri 12/31/2010 at 2PM the hours reported would be from 8AM on the 25th of December thru 2PM the 31st of December, but if the user were to select Block for the same range the hours reported would be only 8AM thru 2PM on the selected days the rest of the hours on the selected days would not be reported. When using an Hour Grid the user will select an existing Hour Grid from a drop-down list or use the import button to Import an Hour Grid from another station within the database.  When the Grid Inclusion option is selected the hours that are selected in the Hour Grid will be the only hours included for the Date and Time range specified.  If the Grid Exclusion is selected the hours in the Hour Grid will be excluded for the Date and Time Range selected.

Country Pane

In this pane, select the Country and the Association Report type, where more than one Association Report is used for the region. Typically this is the case in many regions.

NOTE:  When selecting Canada in this field, a Canadian Parameters tab is displayed in the Tabbed Options pane. GSelector users in Canada should contact the RCS Canada office for details. See the notes on assigning territory-specific codes in this topic.

When selecting Germany in this field, a German Musikcode tab is displayed in the Tabbed Options pane. GSelector users in Germany should contact the RCS Germany office for details.

When Selecting Australia in this field, the Report drop-down has four options. The Australian APRA New Music Association Report allows the selection of a User Defined Attribute and a Report Type. The former allows you to select an attribute for use in the report while the latter provides options of 'Items' and 'Time.' The 'Items' option provides spin counts as previously shown in the report. The new 'Time' option formats the report to show total seconds for each summary which are then summed to indicate actual song runtime instead of spins.

We have updated the format for the UK PPL association report and moved it under Ireland.

In addition we added an IMRO Links association report for Ireland and an ICASA association report for South Africa.

The only report available for the United States is the DMCA report. The BMI and ASCAP reports are generated in the Export Schedule window.

DMCA Report

The DMCA Association Report can be used to identify any songs that do not meet the following Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) performance complement rules:

(13)

The “sound recording performance complement” is the transmission during any 3-hour period, on a particular channel used by a transmitting entity, of no more than—

(i)

by the same featured recording artist; or

(ii)

from any set or compilation of phonorecords lawfully distributed together as a unit for public performance or sale in the United States,

if no more than three such selections are transmitted consecutively:

Provided

, That the transmission of selections in excess of the numerical limits provided for in clauses (A) and (B) from multiple phonorecords shall nonetheless qualify as a sound recording performance complement if the programming of the multiple phonorecords was not willfully intended to avoid the numerical limitations prescribed in such clauses.

The report will check for violations regardless of whether the DMCA Rule is enabled.

Where this takes place, users should also ensure that Segments are accurately entered in the Link window Additional Information window.

GSelector provides a Save button at the top of this pane to save any changes to settings you make in any of the three tabbed options below.

Time Frames: Day and Hour Filter,  Network Hours

The Day and Hour filter is available in all territories; The Network Hours grid is only presented for specific territories. Both access a grid of 168 checkboxes, one for each hour of the day across the week. In each tab view, you can manually check individual boxes for the hours and days to include in the report. To select an hour across the week, select and click the Hour box at left. To de-select, click the Hour box a second time. To select a day, click the Day Header at top. To de-select, click the Header a second time.

The Day and Hour grid controls the hours that will be included in the Association Report for this station.

The Networked Hours grid determines which shows are local and which are networked and generated remotely.

Assigning territory-specific codes (Canada and Germany)

Copyright bodies in both Canada and Germany require information to be assigned to specific local parameters in the tabbed options pane of the Association Reports window. If this information is not already specified for songs in your GSelector database, no options can be selected in the tab panes in this window. For more details, contact your local office.
